Living Life On Your Terms
In order to live your life the way you desire, you need to consider about what motivates your decisions. Perhaps you have faced disappointment, rejection, or you feel like you are constantly pushed to the ground. If you've had enough of how things are right now, your future can be completely different. The first thing you need to do is understand that fulfilment comes from within, you need to be feeling like you’re honouring yourself in your decisions, rather than trying to be or satisfy someone else.
You create your life. Changing your atitude, changes what happens to you. When we don’t look for concrete ways for achieving our dreams and goals, we end up feeling unhappy and dissatisfied with our choices. In order to take control, we must prioritise our own needs. It’s hard to make choices when you know others will reject you if you choose a different life path, or you listen to your fears. In order to live a more fulfilling life, it’s important to be motivated by your goals, and never by your fears. Try writing down your dream goals in life, and reflect on why they are important to you. You will realise that it will be easier to let go of negativity and worries, when you understand that what you want to achieve it’s something that reflect your personality and what most satisfies you.
If you want good things to happen to you, you have to be in the mindset of expecting success. Stop focusing on what you don’t have or don’t like. Identify your mental blocks because changing your thinking, changes your behaviour. Determine what you want for your future and envision the end result. Visualisation involves imagining all the steps you need to take, in order to achieve your goal, and can help you to figure out a plan to reach it. Focus on all the active steps you can take toward your goal. Motivation has to be empowered in your own mind.
Find balance between socialisation and alone time. Spend some time alone to reflect the person you are, the things you want in your life, and what you really need; but be careful not to isolate yourself, because it can limit your perception of your life and the world. If you have negative thoughts, you could end up feeling unworthy. That’s when socialising plays an important part, because when you have deep and meaningful relationships, it’s easier to disengage from people who bring you down or drain your energy. A happy life is also a result of relationships with people who are positive, action-oriented, and supportive.
Focus on building yourself up rather than tearing yourself down, because positivity is infectious. I’ve learned that we need to praise ourselves for small achievements, and constantly acknowledge our progress, no matter how small we think it is, in order to stay motivated. Little things can actually make the biggest of differences. Try to remember that you are on a journey and reward yourself often: it is important to slow down, relax from everyday life and focus on something larger than you in order to have a lifestyle that is aligned with your personal values. Living your life on your terms is possible when you realise that you have the power to make choices to create change in your life for the better. Use your inner power to make yourself happy, to view yourself worthy of success, and you will attract wonderful things to your life.
Be patient in your journey for an authentic life and keep in mind that sometimes things have to get worse before they get better. Re-frame your thinking in order to change negatives to positives along the way. We are all spiritual beings looking for purpose to continue to strive for a fulfilled and happy life. Reminding yourself of your choice to be in control, can actually help you to internalise your intentions. Making a change can be difficult, but you are worth the effort. You just have to be willing to put in the work.
