Racing Against Time
In our daily lives, we usually feel as we are going as fast as we can, as soon as we can. We often rush through our tasks, trying to get them done, and to accomplish as much as possible each day. We tend to think that we must go fast all the time. Most of us live day after day obsessed with speed, but we don’t pay attention to the fact that when we are rushing all the time, our stress levels build up, and it is almost impossible for our life to get better.
When we direct our focus to speed up all the time, we are missing out on life itself. We need to realise that when we are rushing, we are not really present. We are just concentrated on getting things done, always racing against the clock. We get used to a constant feeling of pushing against time, that is exhausting and draining. We usually plan our day trying to find ways of multitasking, because we believe that if we get everything done more quickly, then we will have more time. We tend to prioritise all our responsibilities with very little time left over for ourselves.
We all wish to have some spare time, but we have it, we never know how to use it for our benefit. In order to use your time more efficiently, it's vital to know what’s important to you, and eliminate the commitments that aren’t as important. Remember that when we are always racing to the next moment, we are missing the moment we are in. Try to make time for life’s simple pleasures, and if you feel overwhelmed by all your responsibilities against the time you have, remind yourself that the present moment is all that exists. Cultivating a greater awareness of the moment you are living now is the first step toward a better appreciation of your life.
Stop racing against time and pursue the things that you are passionate about. Take some time for yourself and do not feel guilty for prioritising what matters to you, because even when you do everything on your to-do list, more things will come up. You will only find inner peace when you allow yourself to access a sense of tranquility, no matter what's going on around you.
Focus your mind, and you will be able to reach a higher level of awareness and inner calm. Every time you feel like you’re overwhelmingly busy, put things in context and to let go. Stop being concerned about being fast, and try enjoying your life right now. We are all able to live a better life if we concentrate on functioning smoothly rather than speedily.
